Teddy Boffin, who was a very clever little bear, had a Magic Marble. It was black and white and shiny and sparkled in the light. It was ever so old, much older than Teddy Boffin. It was even older than the dinosaurs, and they were really old. Teddy Boffin loved his magic marble because it could make time go backwards. He loved going back to see things which happened ages ago. He met kings and queens, soldiers and sailors and everyone who lived in history. What a clever bear he was.
For the Grown Ups
Teddy Boffin came to life in 2007 when Deborah Reader recognised a gap in history resources for Key Stage 1 children. The BBC has produced Barney Bear to help children understand geography, and local school teachers have equated Teddy Boffin as his history counterpart.
Teddy Boffin is a great addition to the classroom and helps deliver often complex historical subjects to small children. The stories are well paced and easy to understand and have encouraged children to form Teddy Boffin clubs in the playground. Teddy Boffin and his Magic Marble are children’s passports to the rich and colourful legacy of not only British history, but that of the world, also.
